Breguet CLASSIQUE 5157

The CLASSIQUE 5157 expresses by itself the infinity of time in a brilliantly restrained face, engine-turned by hand in the purest tradition of Breguet’s master-watchmakers. Here the infinitely large rubs shoulders with the infinitely small: a 38mm diameter case for a 5.2mm-high extra-thin model is a real exploit for an automatic mechanical movement.

The case, of ageless simplicity, is carved out of yellow or white gold and has a sapphirecrystal caseback. It is ornamented with the classic fluted caseband, the distinctive sign, in the highest sense, of the House, and bears a crown embossed with the Breguet initial. The dial, engine-turned by hand, adds its restraint to the whole: the hours are roman numerals; the open-tipped blued hands and the individual number sign a timepiece which goes to the essence and proves that refinement can also be expressed in a style that has been distilled to the extreme.
