2726 José Sousa The jewels are used in mechanical watches and they serve to maximally reduce the frictions that exist between the pivots of the wheels and their bearing, which if this was not ruby cause friction considerably higher. They are only needed in the mechanisms of greater precision, it would be possible to use other materials such as sapphire, that was set aside just for aesthetics reasons. The diamond is too hard to be used in such conditions and he would be constantly exposed to great risks to break.
